So another update..

-Still working part-time at Rocky Mountain Radiator (thankfully) and it sounds like I'll be picking up around 30 hours weekly come the new year.
- I've written five articles for the paper thus far. Took a break this last week because of some personal issues. I'll get back to it later in the week.
- My blood pressure has risen to scary levels.
- I have discovered a love for all things steampunk.
- Starting on two writing projects. One is a short story (as always) while the other is a compound of every day observations I've had over the last four years.
- Searching for Neverland goes well. Perhaps I'll have picture at some point. Playing Hook is awesome.
- Rent went down from 600 to 475. Sweet.
- Get paid from the paper and pt job this week. ^_^
- Money continues to be tight.
- FAFSA was approved, now I just need to decipher how I can use it for next year.
-Yankees won the World Series. I would have wept if I cared.

and that's about it.

Quick Updates

- I've landed a part time job at Rocky Mountain Radiators. It doesn't pay much, but its a start.
- I've started working as a freelance writer for the Today in Dixie newspaper. The pay per article is barely worth mentioning, but at least I'm getting some much needed experience.
- Got signed up for school in the spring. Now I just need to see to financial support.
- Still in the apartment, though there is the possibility I may have to move to a cheaper place sometime after November.

Cheers.

Captain Hook and Access Denied

  • Aug. 22nd, 2009 at 12:34 PM
Eh?
My brother somehow convinced me to show up to an audition for a 'readers theater' play entitled "Finding Neverland." Its a prequel to Peter Pan written by a friend of his. He had previously invited me to try out, or simply show up and watch, so I opted to watch. The next thing I know I'm sighing in to try out for the part of one of the pirates (as they are among the few adults in the story). And just who does my brother - the director no less - have me try out for?

Well, the entry title gives that away. He had me read lines for one Allister, aka Captain Hook. I doubt I'd really get the part, but it was fun to read the lines and act over the top on a few parts.

---------

Also, an internet filtering program I recently installed has blocked access to the instant messenger programs I primarily use. I have also found some of the chat sites I intermittently visit to be blocked as well. So until things are cleared up the only ways to get a hold of me will be via e-mail, facebook, or here.

That's all for now. Cheers.

little ole me
I'm thinking of shaving my head soon - possibly as soon as this weekend. The hair's been thinning pretty bad the last three years, and as it stands, I'm going to be sporting halo-head before too much longer. If I go through with it, y'all can expect there will be before and after pictures.

Ugh...

In the last 48 hours I've averaged about four hours of sleep.

Harry Potter vs. Twilight...

  • Jul. 22nd, 2009 at 9:34 PM
maho
I just bought the first books in the Harry Potter and the Twilight series.  I then decided to read the first paragraph of each book the see which one would catch my attention first, and so far Harry Potter has won out. Twilight seemed rather droll by comparison. This is only the first page impression however, so things are subject to change.

I suspect in the near future I'll end up having dreams entitled Harry Potter and the Sparkly Vampires

At least I have more reading material for insomnia hour now. GLEE!

On another note, I have been reading the novelizations of the original Mobile Suit Gundam written by Yoshiyuki Tomino. I haven't seen much of the original TV series, but from what I have taken from the novels (I am currently on the third and last book of the set),  I don't like Amuro Rey, the hero of the series. He's an immature punk who just happens to have some special abilities. He way he treats Sayla Mass as well also annoys me. On the other hand, I find Char Aznable, one of the primary antagonists, to be much more likable, even if he is a tab obsessed with revenge against the Zabi family. I also liked how Kusko Al and Dozle Zabi were portrayed. A pity they both bit the dust.

Anyway, more when I feel like it.

Cheers.

Yup.

I'm awake.

(Insert stream of curse words here.)

head, desk. repeat.

  • Jul. 12th, 2009 at 11:04 PM
ugh
Its  just past 11 PM here and I'm still wide awake. I'm going to get to bed soon so I can at least try to get about six hours of sleep in.

And my brother has tried to convince me to read that Twilight book so I can experience for myself how supposedly horrid it is. I know a lot of people around here that read it simply because the author happens to be LDS too, yet they never seemed to comment on the actual plot past that fact and 'sparkly vampires.' So... maybe I should read it so I can see how much of a better story I could write, eh?

It could make for good insomnia reading too now that I think about it.

Eh?
Insomnia again.

These sleeping pills suck.

Another day...

  • Jul. 7th, 2009 at 10:41 PM
ugh
I had intended to spend a few hours writing today. To write something. Anything. It didn't pan out though. Distractions and not being able to settle on just what I wanted to write were the order of the day. I'm especially trying to produce some fresh material and not something borrowed from others and excessively tweaked by myself. Again, it hasn't working out too well. Meh. Tomorrow's another day to try. Until then I shall keep banging my head against the desk.

On a side note, the sleeping pills did seem to work some last night. Twas just one night, so I'm trying them again to see if it was a fluke or not. I took them an hour ago too.. still feeling awake.

Cheers

maybe they'll work...

  • Jul. 6th, 2009 at 9:40 PM
Eh?
I finally bought some sleeping pills today. We'll see if they help at all. This will be the first time I've ever used sleep aids. Given I've never been able to sleep straight through a single night in the last ten years... I've got my fingers crossed.

Cheers

Armchair commentators are so much fun. Especially when they start babbling about things they have no information on in the first place. Second and third hand info is all they have and thus feel they have the pure and unadulterated truth and pass judgment. Well, to y'all that feel that this is an authentic way of making "informed" decisions I have only this to say:

Pull your heads out of your butts and get first hand info before shooting off your mouths. Perhaps checking your sources would be in order too.  Did that ever cross your minds? Better yet, why not just shut the hell up and stop wasting my air with that pungent halitosis you call your opinion.

Thank you and good night!

Settling in

  • Jun. 27th, 2009 at 10:57 PM
Eh?
Well, my brother's been at the apartment since Wednesday and things have gotten switched around since then. I really don't mind it much though. Changing things up in the living room and spots here and there is nice after letting it stagnate for  while. Things are a little bit cleaner now too. John is a neat freak. He wants things as spotless as possible. Okay, I can do that (I need to be a tab more tidier anyway).

It does feel a little different having another person around now, yet at the same time not so much. I guess the fact that my brother's living with me just hasn't hit home yet. Given how I react to things though, I'll just take it all in stride and see it as just another event it life and move on with things as they come.

In other news, some ideas for Enoch's Key have been scrapped, so I'm basically starting over again. I tried to recycle one too many old ideas and rehash some material that wasn't wholly original. So after a few failed attempts at getting the story rolling I threw parts out the window and am in the process of starting anew. Glee. Once I get things going I may start posting snippets once more.

Till the next time,
Cheers.
